00:01: Hi! In Knack, mastering how to batch-update records is essential for efficient data management. This guide will cover an example of how to process batch updates in the Builder. 00:14: For this example, we will use an HR Employee Management app to manage employee records. The HR department needs to update the employment status of a group of employees simultaneously. To begin, I've selected the Employees data table on the left. 00:34: For the next step, I'll select the "Update" option from the Records view. 00:41: In the left toolbox, you'll see an option to add criteria for which records you would like to update. If you choose to not add criteria here, every record in this table will be updated. 00:55: For this use case, I've added two sets of criteria to filter the records I would like to update. "Department" and "Status" are fields that you can see exist in the table that I've selected. Depending on each field's type, you will have different options to select from for the operators and the input that follows selecting the operator. You also have an option to choose between "all" or "any" from the first dropdown. If you choose "all", only records that match each set of criteria will be updated. If you choose "any", records that match any of the following rules will be updated. 01:35: I'll select the "Next" button to proceed. 01:40: In this step of the process, you can choose what values you would like to update. I would like to update all of the filtered records to have the Status value set to "Active". Like the previous step, depending on the field type that you have selected, there will be different options to select from. For this example, "Status" is a multiple-choice field, so I have selected one of the multiple-choice options saved to the field's settings. You also have the option to add additional changes to field values by selecting the plus sign to the right of the field selection. 02:20: For the final step, you will be shown how many records will be updated. To complete the batch update, select the "Update Records" button. 02:31: Now, you will be shown a progress bar at the bottom of the Builder that shows how many records have been processed. You can close this at any time. 02:42: This guide shared the process of batch updating records in the Builder. Thank you for watching!
