How to Import Data Using Google Sheets

00:02: This guide will walk you through the process of importing data using Google Sheets in Knack. 00:10: For this example, we will walk you through importing data to create a new table using a Google sheet. Since this is a newly created app, we will select the "Add a Table" button in the middle of the Builder. 00:25: Once you're on the "Add a Table" screen, select the option for Google Sheets. 00:33: A modal pop-up will appear where you will need to select an existing Google account that possesses the Google sheet you're wishing to import. 00:44: You will need to select what you authorize Knack to access from this screen, and then select "Continue". 00:53: From here, you can select the Google sheet that you would like to upload into Knack. Then, click the "Select" button on the bottom left. 01:03: You will then be directed to the Define Headers step of the import process. From this screen, select whether or not the first row of your data contains column headers, and then select "Next". 01:16: Next, you will be directed to the Map Columns step of the import process. From here, you can select the field types for each of your data columns on the left by clicking the drop-down arrow for each column under "New Field". 01:33: After finishing mapping your columns, select the "Next" button. 01:40: You will then be directed to the confirm your import step of the import process where you can name your table. You will also see a confirmation note of how many records you are about to import into your table. After inputting a table name, select the "Start Import" button. 02:00: Once the import has been started, you will be directed back to the Records view of your table. At the bottom of the Builder, you will find a progress bar for the import.
